DeKalb County, GA- Stone Mountain Trail Phase VI - City of Clarkston

BEI prepared erosion control plans, right of way revisions, signing and marking, and utility plans for this 12 ft. wide shared use trail along Church Street from Glendale Road to Mauck Street.  This is a transportation enhancement (TE) project with DeKalb County and the PATH Foundation as sponsors.

The railroad represents a dividing line between the Upper Ocmulgee and Chattahoochee River basins, creating a multitude of drainage outfall locations.  Additional Best Management Practices were employed to keep sediment from discharging into the bio-impaired segments of South Fork Peachtree Creek and Snapfinger Creek.

Georgia Department of Transportation - Coastal Regional Commission (CRC)  Transit Facility Project, Glynn County

BEI  completed the traffic study for this new regional transit facility located on SR 99  near I-95 just north of Brunswick, GA.  The proposed 9 acre transit facility will serve multi-modal forms of transportation within the 10 county coastal region.  BEI  worked with the Architect on the master plan to ensure that buses, coaches, bikes, cars and pedestrians will be able to safely and efficiently operate within the facility.

This area has an urgent need to support industry by providing alternative forms of transportation for commuters, students, the disabled, as well as to support the aging population.

Fort Gillem, Forest Park, GA - USACOE Force Protection Enclave Traffic Study

BEI prepared a detailed traffic study including trip distribution and origin destination study for this fast track design-build project for Fort Gillem military base located near Forest Park, GA.  Fort Gillem is one of the 2005 Department of Defense Base Realignment and Closure military installations to undergo transformation in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the US military infrastructure.

BEI developed trip distribution and intersection level of service analysis to determine the future volumes of traffic utilizing the new Access Control Point to the new Fort Gillem Force Protection Enclave.

City of Atlanta/Cobb County, GA - D.L. Hollowell LCI Planning Project

BEI completed the transportation portion of this Liveable Centers Initiative (LCI) study.  The purpose of the study was to develop strategies to encourage transit supportive redevelopment of underutilized commercial, industrial, and residential developments into vibrant mixed use centers; to provide a variety of opportunities for housing services, amenities and jobs that are desirable to the existing community and employers in the area, and to improve mobility and accessability to all modes of transportation in the corridor.

BEI was heavily involved in the public involvement portion of this project.  This involved presenting to stakeholders future plans for Georgia DOT, Cobb County and City of Atlanta major projects and connectivity in the area.
